If you have any questions please feel free to contact SM Zedan prior to departure.
PLEASE VERIFY YOUR EMERGENCY CONTACT INFO IN EMAIL ATTACHMENT SPREADSHEET. ONLY TWO PHONE NUMBERS WERE ALLOWED FOR EACH PARTICIPANT. IF CORRECT, NO REPLY IS NECESSARY. IF CHANGES ARE NEEDED, PLEASE CONTACT CATHY REED AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.
Notes from the Scoutmaster:
I would like to remind Scouts of the following details:
- Pack your gear as per page 36 of the Sea Base guide, our meeting and the hand-out from Mrs. Wingard. Most important items include: Nalgene bottle w/caribiner & insulating sleeve, sunglasses, hat, swimsuit, snorkel gear (mask, snorkel, fins, booties, dive skin) and towel.
- Place any medicines you are bringing in a labeled zip lock plastic bag, along with any <3 oz liquids, and put in your carry-on. Per TSA instructions, all liquids (sunscreen, shampoo, etc.) over 3 oz in size need to be in checked baggage. Since we had purchased tickets before the changes, there is no charge for one normal checked bag for each person. Use a TSA approved lock for your checked luggage. All checked luggage should be tagged inside and out with name, address & contact information.
- Carry-on luggage must adhere to TSA content requirements and FAA airline size restrictions: What can I bring? and Size and number of peices are sites of reference. Please do NOT bring a pocket knife in your carry-on!!
- You may bring an iPOD or other electronics for use during travel, but they will be stored at Sea Base and not allowed on the water.
- Wear your official Class A Scout uniform for travel on the plane. While sight-seeing in Florida and at Sea Base, you may wear a Class B shirt with your BSA shorts, socks and belt.
- Crew Quartermasters: each crew will need a combination lock for securing gear in a locker at Sea Base base camp while we are on the voyage. Please double-check that each member of your crew has brought their snorkel gear to the airport. Some crews are packing their snorkel gear together in crew duffels with their first aid kit. Please ensure your crew first aid kit contains Bonine (for seasickness), Sting Ease, alcohol (for ears), suntan lotion, aloe and bug repellent. Again - Don’t forget to bring a crew lock to use for gear stored at Sea Base.
- Make sure you have your food, admission and fun money in your possession. Per the spreadsheet, the estimated amount is $310.00 total.
WE WILL ASSEMBLE AS A GROUP AT DULLES AIRPORT on Sunday, June 29 at 4:30am. Please approach the airport on the Departures Level and drive to the far end. We will be inside the last set of doors. American Flight 1569 departs @ 6:00am and will land at Miami International Airport at 8:35am.
