About Philmont
The Philmont Journal for Troop 572 Crew 703 A
This Journal will be created as we progress through the entire Philmont adventure. It will start with our pre-trek preperation and conclude with the lessons learned through the experience.

The crew historians will be responsable for maintaining this portion of the web site.

All Participant Meeting
October 1st, 2006 4:30PM - 6:00PM

At this meeting we discussed activity options for our in route plans as well as Philmont Treks. Every participant has been requested to review the in route options and submit their interest to SM Zedan our Monday October 16th Troop meeting.

This includes:

  1. choice of flying into Denver, Colorado or Albuquerque New Mexico
  2. preferred primary trek activities and 1st and second choice itineraries
  3. your first and second preference of crew member you would like to be with
  4. and whether or not you will participate in the Wilderness First Aid training being offered by the NCAC. This will be a crew cost shared by all participants.

To assist in this please re-review the powerpoint we discussed at the meeting, download the 2006 Philmont Trek itineraries and surf the web to gain a better understanding of the options and their implications for preparation.

We discussed that all participants should plan on participating in the GCD Fall Hike-o-ree backpacking event and that it is strongly recommended that you have your Philmont boots and backpacks prior to the hike-o-ree. Please review the gear list to see what equipment you may need to procure prior to our final adventure.

We need to find out what trail stoves may be available to us for the October outing. If you have a stove please contact SM Zedan.

All meeting attendees were given a copy of the Physical Preparation for a Philmont Trek, and Risk Advisory from the Philmont Planning Guide. You must read the documents, sign them, and then return them to Troop Chairman Fred Adams.
