Patrol Leader Council Schedule
Next scheduled meeting
Sunday May 4th
7:00PM

SPL Reed has published the schedule for the monthly PLC meetings. They are currently posted on the PLC webpage.

At each PLC we review Patrol activity, troop program elements (troop meeting and outings), instruction syllabus and current needs of the unit. All members of the PLC are expected to participate at the PLC. If they cannot make it, it is their responsibility to ensure that a prepared substitute be present to represent him.

Rank Advancement Process

The troop has a standard process for scout advancement once all rank advancement requirements have been signed off in the scouts handbook. This process gets the scout through his SMC and BOR:

  1. Scout should request an Individual Progress Report (IPR) from advancement chair or committee chair
  2. If the IPR is not up to date then he must turn over his Boy Scout Handbook to the Advancement Chair to update Troopmaster with signatures in book.
  3. Scout should then request an SPL conference with SPL
  4. SPL should speak with Patrol Leader to verify scout spirit prior to meeting with scout (participation, spirit, etc.,)
  5. SPL should sign individual progress report that scout successfully completed the SPL conference
  6. Scout request SM/ASM conference
  7. SM/ASM conference
  8. SM/ASM sign scouts handbook
  9. Scout request BOR from Advancement Chair
  10. BOR (Typically held on first Monday of each month)

National Honor Patrol

Each month the troops patrols will compete to be named honor patrol. The Patrol that wins the monthly competition will be awarded the Antietam Staff and will be allowed to mark the staff with their patrol designation.

The qualifications being utilized to assess each patrol are based on the requirements outlined in the Boy Scout Handbook to earn the National Honor Patrol Award:

  • Have a Patrol Name, Flag & Yell
  • Hold 2 Patrol Meetings a month
  • Take part in at least 1 hike, outdoor activity or other Scouting activity.
  • Complete 2 good turns or service projects approved by the Patrol Leaders Council
  • Help 2 patrol members advance 1 rank
  • Wear the uniform correctly (at least 75% of the patrols membership)
  • Have a representative attend at least 3 Patrol Leaders Council meetings
  • Have 8 members in the patrol, or increase the patrols membership over the previous 3 months

Other criterion utilized in the assessment is troop leadership, troop meeting & outing participation, sportsmanship and teamwork.

When a patrol meets the above requirements for three months the patrol and each member will be presented the National Honor Patrol Award to wear on their uniform.
